Pollen… What an appropriate name for this week. There’s a nice dusting of the yellow stuff on every car in sight, and my allergies are relentless. Good thing there’s always knitting to keep me busy inside when antihistamines just won’t do their job!
This week, I had the opportunity to test a new pattern from one of my favorite knitwear designers, Andrea Mowry of dreareneeknits.com! Seriously, could. not. be. more excited.
The pattern is for a pretty hat that knits up quick (in fact, I’ve already made two)! A simple cable technique creates tons of yummy texture and is easy to memorize, so you can relax and enjoy the knit!
I knit up this test in Tahki Yarns Tara Tweed in colorway 015. The photos don’t do it justice, but it has lots of pretty specks of color and interesting texture. I like that the wool/nylon blend is a little lighter than 100% wool, great for transitioning from winter to spring!
Please forgive the selfies… my usual photographers (*ahem* husband, sister, mom) were all working and weren’t available to take photos for me. I really need to get a tripod…
I can’t resist the urge to shove a freshly blocked hat onto my head before getting a photo. So, unfortunately, I don’t have a nice shot of it before it was stretched out… I just love this texture!
I thoroughly enjoyed this pattern and test knitting for Andrea. She’s so kind and helpful, and my FOs and pattern stash are evidence that I love her designs. I hope you’ll check out her awesome new pattern over on Ravelry!
Which of Andrea’s designs have you knit? What was your favorite? I’d love to hear!
