This week I show you how I take too many pictures of my dog.

A few months back I shared my desire to knit this jumper for my pretty Molly girl. I’m happy to report that I finally got around to it, and just in time for cold weather.

The yarn I used was Knit Pick’s Brava Bulky in Wine. It took just over 1 ball, though I should have made the sweater a bit bigger around and a little longer. It was also the first time I successfully utilized the Magic Loop method with the beautiful Options Interchangeable Rainbow Wood Circular Knitting Needle Set. At first I was a little intimidated, but once I got the hang of it, I found it to be surprisingly easy! I won’t exactly be dumping my DPNs, but it’s good to have options and I like the wide variety of sizes offered by this set.

I followed Alice’s pattern closely, sizing up some for my 30-pound girl.

As you can see, it’s a little tight around her chest; I think 4-6 more stitches would keep it from pulling. It’s a little short and tends to bunch up as she plays and moves around, so I should have made it several inches longer.

Here’s one of the only closeups I could get… she doesn’t like to sit still for long!

Overall, I’m really happy with how this sweater turned out and I think Molly loves it too!

I’d love to know what you knit this week! Tell me in the comments or share it on Instagram using #52weeksofknits.

Warmest Wishes!

  1. Hi Andrea!

The sweater looks great! Moly is a lucky dog!

Curious about what size knitting needle you used? I’m using the same pattern with Brava Bulky and debating between a size 10 and 10.5.

    Thank you!

    • Hi, Alicia! Thank you so much, I’m a lucky mama to have her 😉

I can’t believe I didn’t put what size I used in the post – sorry about that! I used what the pattern calls for, 10.5. I hope that helps! I’d love to see your finished jumper. Molly’s is just so cute 🙂 Thanks for reading!
